Did this last year. Was trying on hi gloss finish. However, at that time i only have a 2000 compound and a bottle of cd polisher.
Wet sand, compound, cd polisher, last step is modeling wax.
The finishing is not too bad, though is not as mirror perfect glossiness as i wanted.
oh btw, i was having loads of problem with the soft rubber(the ones used to cover joints in all patlabor series). To make them right, initially i wanted to use polyster putty to sculpt, but then i would have to sacrifice the movement.
Many had suggested various ways to counter this problem, freeze the rubber before cutting, substitute with velvet, etc etc. However, someone told me i could use tissue to wrap with white glue; which i can still have limited movability. Anyone ever try this method before? and how's the result?
btw, comment n criticism are welcome!

philson: the flight type is even better! definitely worth a try, this is a nice kit. the only bad thing is the rubber joint where u cannot paint nor mod nor sand........
Very nice finish, great attempt on high gloss even if youare not happy with it (alot better then most of us can do). If you have trouble with sweaty palms use microfiber cloth. It is used afteryou finish waxing your car and have finger prints on it (very safe to use on models and cheap to buy from auto stores). Happy modeling...
Thanks so much for the kind words guys. Compare to many of you, espeially those who r into car models too, this is nothing. I find it quite difficult to polish a mecha. To make it worse, with my sweaty palms, mecha kits needs to be touched for assembly n posing, which left loads of oil stain on the kit. those r very hard to remove. anyway, thanks again, will try to improve next time!:)
