This is my first entry to Bakuc, in year 2007.
Didnt win anything, which i think is a fair result. This is because there r quite something i overlooked and made mistakes. Would like to share some mistakes i made here:
1. At that time, i only use Tamiya acrylic paint. Problem with the paint is, while it's so good in AFV color n weathring, it's not suitable to paint very vibrant colors, which is normally appeared in clean built Mecha. The kit looks dull.
2. I took care of the outside, but forget about the inside, especially those where others still can see. Eg, i extended the front skirt with pla plates, i polished the out side but didnt do anything in the inside. once one tily his head and look from a slightly lower angle, he could see all the untidy inside.
3. i didnt protect the kit. The event was held in a shopping mall, and when i didnt have a glass case to protect the kit from General publics' itchy hands, the kit got spoilt.
4. I didnt plan well. I hand air brush the whole thing, did panel line inking, hand paint the smaller parts (mostly silver rivet), after all these only i top coat a layer of flat. I realised the silver or any metallic parts had gone dull due to the flat coat. I should have flat coat first, later only glue all the reflective metallic colored parts on.
These r good lesson i learned, hard ones too.
Since this event, for the one year plus, i had improved quite a bit. Now, besides Tamiya acrylics, i m also using Gunze lacquer, Gaia, and Humbrol. Besides that, i m learning to use real metal, cause i realised no matter how u paint it, a silver painted plastic rivet is still no match to a real poilished aluminium rivet.
Oh yeah, i've learned how to carefully plan the modeling process too.
