smeagolthevile 10/07 16:16		PAUL! WAKEUP! There is something I want to talk with you, and some others about. As a group, Anime/Mecha/Sci-fi modelers, we tend to stick to ourselfs. Our sites (like this one) and our forums tend to be mainly centered around mecha and anime. There is a severe separation between us and the rest of the modeling world. I myself am trying to bridge that gap, as well as build those other types. Building the other types of models I talk to alot of people who build them that seem to have no respect for what us mecha guys do, they just pass of it off as kids stuff, or stuff japan obsessed people do. So, to my point. I am trying to get a few of the better modelers from here that I have spoken to before to take a gander and start posting a bit at a forum I frequent that has a SEVERE lack of representation from the Mecha modelers of the world. Its the forum for the Fine Scale magazine. http://cs.finescale.com/forums/ We have our own section but its small and dominated by starwars/startrek/battlestar galatica. I hope you can find some time to post your work, show some WIPs and teach those tank builders that our stuff is just as good as theirs!

Today I was busy cutting.nipping and placing parts on sticks via foam as a stand, to be readied for airbrushing next weekend. I have to buy 120 more sticks for the other parts, I'm doing a Legend 1/100, SD Destiny Gundam, Force Impulse MG, and some parts of the Unicorn at the same time. Yeah I'm trying to finish a lot of gundams in a short time. But I guess you guys could look forward to all my 5 Gundams being posted in the gallery. Man an assignments are trying to get me as well!

deathworld_dragon 03/14 08:54		A bit of a mess but needed to happen, it finished all for the better and lucky no one was hurt. I think the issue was handled well. My PG WZC was about $65-70-ish us ($80aus) $25 is still blowing my head in. Never heard of Krylon Fusion (probly a us thing but I can find it) thanks for the advice. The problem is many smaller asian nations sells gundam kits dirt cheap and I don't understand why. You are right Bandai would do much better but its Bandai US is charging a heap load. Bandai products in Japan is much cheaper reason why my friend orders his kits from their where other stores in Austraila order from the US. But still the prices you get are much better then me. Normal shelf price for PG WZC $200+ pearl wings $350+. Sucks not living in Japan...

Plus I think the moderators didn't even give a flying turd about some of the comments nor did they pin it on you. I probly shouldn't have been full on but who would have known this would have happened (we needed to let out some steam plus the topic title wasn't a good idea). On the other hand You do have a good point in creating our own gide. I want to hold out for a week or so because I got my hand on the new Hobby Japan and it has an awsome artic what gave me a better idea then what I posted befor on worn metal. Plus on the train today I scorded an awsome idea/ project/ what not yourself, Steven and me could do together if you guys are interested. I will lay it out soon. Plus I started a topic on modeling tips. I saw this awsome forum did the same thing as I did for awhile and the amount of ideas and some of the ideas were really eye opening. Could you please help me start rolling this topic. I feel halp of the members are more worried about how cute SD's are and if you like OO or turn A then their own modeling (which is fine but we lack modeling stuff in a modeling forum). Lets trun this community into an awsome one...

Im lucky my mother has a art studio just out side the house and I have a little desk. I have many take out containers full of projects, figures, parts all my tools in jars. a small shelf with finished work and about 30 trophies. Yes my room and living areas are a junk heap I wouldn't even show my mother but my modeling space (even if messy at times) is a place of pleasure when I have time. Sorry for ranting but I had to get work issues off my chest...

Really if you are casting you should wear a fume filter mask and if you are cutting or sanding it a partical or dust filter mask. Resin is a really bad product for your health and should only be done in a well venterlated area (eg, outside), modeling should really never be done in ones bedroom unless you have a venting fan or something. Im glad you spoted this problem early for your health sake I had a teacher who almost died from clear resin casting (same with sanding, cutting, burning foam of any type). I hear games workshop has a safe to use water product here is the online US store link, hope this helps out... Im quite luck because I have friends who owns anime stores and give me discounts and choose the figures I want (Wow, most fans in melbourne would kill for that). I don't really paint my trading figures but found these really small crap looking $2 and thought why would Bandai make these? And turned it into a model...

alllla 02/08 14:36		Sorry, I guess you misunderstood what I was wanting to do with because I said I was a sculptor. I only wanted putty to get rid of seam lines, not to modify anything. The stuff I use is crap. Its Testors cement. Its sticky. If you get it on any other piece of the model and wipe it off it leaves that wipe mark. Its runny. I takes forever to dry, the tube says it completly drys and hardens after four hours, but its actually fourty-eight. And I don't glop it on thick to where it would make it take longer to dry, either. I apply it with a tooth pick! Any way, thats why I was wondering about the putty...

deathworld_dragon 01/27 20:53		I will challenge that Dupli- color surface primer in return. First You can't get that out side the States (in cludes future floor which is a bad product too). 2nd) that and other auto primer products (which is a light grey too) it is not as fine as Tamiya and puttys or hides detail or mistakes (need to do really light coats). 3rd) For beginners that paint is harder to use as it orage peels and glugs easyer plus requires solvents to clean up. I use these auto products because these aspects are great for bases. If it works well for you by all means I worked in an auto store for a few years and picked up a thing or two. I teach beginers what I use when they are on their own feet its up to them what they want to use. But like I always as modeling is a personal thing if something works don't let others change your way. But also be open to new ideas. I injoyed this debait... PS(I forgot to add you should paint another coat over the primer for pre-shades. IPMS Australia told me that)

BUT if you look at the pictures, I added aditional thrusters to the legs, as well as a very souped up jump pack, so any maneuvering it would have to do would be in the air. And with the extra weapons, and armor it could leave any single suit in it's dust. and to your whole, kick out the leg, well, thats what the giant blade is for. That isnt even what I origionally wanted. I wanted to also add the whole beam cannon pack from the IWSP well, the IWSP itself to it, but couldnt get an extra IWSP

But I would like to see a fine texture like sand glued to it. dry brushed a litte lighter in colour and the use of a nicer grass/ bush look (you can find this at a model train store). Good start but you can take your terrain stuff a lot further (you are a gameswork shop man after all). Have a look at the advice I left on Allla's mud pile 1 model and tell me what you think. Plus you do have every right to be pissed off...

deathworld_dragon 01/17 03:49		Inresponce to the mud pile Games Workshop issue. Besides the odd product that tutorial has enough information to finish it with out extra help. One Gameswork Shop in Melbourne had a team from the US who were pro's in gamming tables and travled building them. They were great modelers and brought products from out side GW. Their work was world class and I learned a lot from them. When they moved on the next crew wasn't any were near enough skilled but still tried to help others model. Smoe GW guys are dumb asres and some are quite skilled. Zack will have to find out for him self. What did you think besides that about my tutorial? Even idiots are a better help than a mud pile...

My friend tock a folder full of internet print out pictures of hentai to school around year 8. He was cought out and publicly humiliated. Did it a second time with a USB key late high school (yeah 10). The girl he liked viewed the contents on a school computer. Further down the track last year he asked my friend to service his computer, latter my friend said "dude, your friend has some weird porn" (3 years latter). This is someone who has something to do with hentai. Not a good idea for a girlfriend, lol...

All my friends said that any kind of a model kit is indeed a very good begining to become something way more useful in the future. I enjoy this hobby & nobody called me a looser or jerk in my school. & Indeed I even had a lot of friends even i enjoy this hobby. But... If you too much crazy in love with gundam it's very not good for your mind ! example : I have a friend who's very like Naruto, one day he made a costume like one of the character in NAruto (i don't know which one, but as i remember, it has a white hair and red eye) he made it with a writing paper ! when everybody see him wearing his ownmade bandana, eye, & books made from a writing paper, everybody is laughing at him (including me). & that's because he's very addicted to NAruto. 2.)You mean, like... reason why i have a girlfriend while i have this hobby? that's because she support my hobby (i have a lot of hobby beside gundam modelling like playing guitar, draw something, & alot more) & that's why i love her so much, she's so lowprofile & very kind. I don't wanna talk about my hobby in front of her except if she wants to know a lil bit about my hobbies & im not that Gundam Otaku or something like that. deathworld_dragon 01/02 06:17		Yeah, I have some really interesting stuff comming up this year. My goal is to become an BAKUC standard expert and win one of those monthly contests. I have really slow down my warhammer stuff, can't play the game and only mod and paint the odd figure for expo's. The Bootleg kit is giving me a lot of crap and taking several times longer to finish than a normal kit. Parts are missing, gaps are big, holes and lumps in plastic, parts dont fit, detail lost and the biggest casting flashes I have ever seen. The top is finished but the legs are troublesome, im rebuilding them now. After that it will finish easily. Im planning to spend a lot of time on mounting and decals. From what I have designed it will be cool and the fact that it is a bootleg will blow people away. Lol, im not doing this again thats for sure... (started out as a $10 bet,lol)

When you paint your PG Wing Zero with shading technique, did you separate the parts one by one to airbrush it or did you make the parts already half assembled (example : Leg Frame, Body Frame) & then you paint it with Airbrush?

I use gundam markers and when i mess up, i tried using a plastic eraser and cotton bud to wipe off the mistake, but it just smears. Will the Mircopen do the same or is it a lot better?

Also If He Is going to assemble It I would Wait For A Bit first since on his profile it says he has built only 2 kits. But he Is Quite good at assembling them So I would say to him that He Needs to get a couple kits to gain even more experience beacause you dont really wat to mess up a PG and While waiting for it He should take a look at the instructions and familiarise himself with the parts/instructions so that the test fitting goes perfectly. Also I he wants to paint the PG Tell him to get at least 3-5 Cans of spray For the dominant colour and 2 for each of the other colours.

I'm currently doing a special kit bash and mod project on one of my gundams, should be a lot better than the only Gundam I am showing now :P I actually find installing LED lights a bit tiring but I'm getting used to the process now. Because you know...if you can paint a warhammer figure and weather good, then you must be good at modellling pretty much anything since they take extra patience and precision painting skills with an extra thin brush.
