Humiliated Son of God  Discussions »
This is the first of my LM-HG Eva's to get a diorama. Eva-03's main color was a mix of Tamiya black, german grey, and medium blue. The mix is pretty much spot on to the anime and still gives it a contrast to the solid black parts. Parts that required hand painting were intentionally made imperfect in certain areas. I wanted it to look like the Eva's infection also affected the armour to a certain degree.

The base is designed to show the angel state of Eva-03 as he goes on a rampage. The cross represents the restraining board that he was secured to in the anime. I thought it would be cool to have it in the base like it crashed into the ground at an angle. It's a wooden cross I got at Michaels that I sanded and primed until it no longer looked like wood. It was then painted red and given a black wash to simulate grime and the Eva's blood. The ground work is celluclay that was painted black and then drybrushed with over six layers of brown apple barrel paint. The shrubs are Woodland scenincs Lichen.

Bardiel in greek literally translates into "Humiliated son of god" which is why I chose this title for my diorama.
The dust is intentional. Bardiel was a cloud before he came to Eva-03 right? I decided to make him look like there were "Bardiel spores" on his body.

No epoxy, just Celluclay. It's a paper mache product that when given the proper mix ratio of clay to water will give realistic groundwork that is a lot of fun to paint.
