Gouf vs Gundam  Discussions »
alternate ending to how the original Ramba Ral vs Amuto battle SHOULD have went

Stand with me brothers, Sieg Zeon!

for cosmetic looks I switched the Antiena of the gouf with the large command one from Shin M's Zaku 2.
I did all of the weapons in gunmetal, and the black on the mechs as flat black, to sort of give a bit of depth, which Panzer Schwartzgrau (model masters paint) for the back of the gundam's shield and the grey parts. Hands for the gundam were done Black the gouf's blue. The gouf's PACK cover was done blue instead of grey. Its not really visible, but the neck connector, and where the shoulders connect are done with a silver base, and detailed in gold.

Color guide time
Gouf light blue - Bright Blue (spray testors i think)
Gouf dark blue - model masters Blue Angel Blue
Black parts of gouf - Flat Black
Gouf mechanisms - steel and gold
Heat rod - steel paint (flattest metalic silver i could find) then drybrushed with aluminum and stilver dry brushed over that, giving it a flat sheen)
Thrusters - silver, gold inside details
inside of head - aluminum to give it a metalic glow when the light hits the visor
mono eye - red (I hate the pink mono eye)
Whole mech - weathered with silver for scratches, then two diffrent sand colors dry brushed over the silver drybrushing

Gundam

White - Flint Grey
Blue - Dark Blue
Red - Dark Red (more like blood red)
Grey - Panzer Schwartzengrau
Yellow - Yellow (spray) Deep yellow dry brushed over
Whole kit drybrushed with a black for a soot beat up weathered look

All melted damage panted steel then drybrushed black

Damage!

Shield/Arm Gundam - Put things between the arm and the shield to hold it at the same length, then taped it together. Put it on the gundam then put a soldering iron knife attachment to it, slicing them both at the same time. This left gaps in the shield between the front and back, because its not a snug fit for that kit so I put bits of excess plastic (trees) in the gaps, and melted them down into the gaps giving it that really thick armor look it has.

Heat Rod indentation - I wrapped the heatrod around the gundam, then with a sharpee I marked off the path it followed. Then I followed THAT path with my soldering iron, leaving a snug little groove for the heat rod to be glued into.

Core fighter, marked off the path of the beam rifle, then melted a hole the right size through the right wing and side (I used a paint brush to get a straight line like a ruler) Front I just sliced off in layers with the hot knife untill I got the finished product
Cockpit was smashed open with a perferator then sanded to give a scratched up look, the pilot was drybrushed with red (BLOOD OOOO) and the broken window was as well, on the inside. Then the core fighter was Dull coated to give it the look it has

Thanks for listening, if you have any Qs about other stuff I did, or suggestions, please leavem!

Oh Tools, Perferator, Exacto Knife, Razor Blade, paint brushes, paints, dry brush, marx finishing tool, soldering iron with hot knife attachment, Sand paper, Polishing pads (sand paper, grit 2400, 3200, 4000) there good for scratching clear glass plastic too without it being to... overdone

Ultimatley I used alot of multi layered drybrushing to get the desired effect of weather on my mechs, some of it may be over the top, but I like it, especially over the decals (which are all dry transfer except for the ramba ral logo on the shoulder) I hit the decals with light sand paper first to take off some of the decal then dry brushed them untill the parts where the decal was removed are gone

base building

Step 1, mold the base out of clay
Step 2, cover the clay in wire form
step 3, plaster cast the wireform
step 4, spray cast with glue
step 5 put sand over glue

It didnt work out exactly how I wanted, but im still happy with it

well, if you look closely at the right upper chest you will see the pilot's insignia

The weathering as I see it was just right. You put them in a FREAKING desert for crying out loud. Of course he's gonna get dirty. For all we know, Gouf took a few tumbles in the dirt while wrestling his opponent. That's why I like it, you made Gouf look like it has the type of pilot who's not afraid to get dirty to win.

Robo, your the first person to say that, most thing its overdone. Oh and I just realised what your asking Watermellon "There's no real battle damage to show around his waist - it looks like it was just detached.. " The gundam's lower half disconnects cleanly when the core fighter is ejected, no need for damage there, gundam got beat up, core ejected, core shot down

Thanks, I overdid the weathering on my gouf a bit, but the diorama came out spot on. Its actuially based on some real life desert photos, so

well, ill give you the scenario answer and the REAL answer. Scenerio, (I couldnt get the foot prints to show well enough) but the gouf just drug the gundam over to look at what happened to the core fighter. The real answer, is the legs went to a hackjob im doing because I felt it would clutter the diorama up to much

Though I am mostly impressed.. I feel compelled to ask: Where's the rest of the Gundam? There's no real battle damage to show around his waist - it looks like it was just detached..
